WDC spraying weeds in Raglan reserves

April 27, 2010

in Information,Town and Around

Waikato District Council’s Chief Executive, Gavin Ion has announced that weed spraying will take place in Raglan reserves and cemeteries during the period 26 April to 5 June 2010. The work is aimed at control of overgrowth in the reserves and public cemeteries. All work will be carried out by a registered chemical applicator. The herbicide to be used is Roundup. Enquiries to Gavin Benseman, Maintenance and Contracts Team Leader, phone 07 824 8633.

In the past the Waikato District Council has sometimes sprayed prohibited areas of reserves such as the cliff top along Cliff Street, Raglan. This has then caused erosion of the cliff face. Let’s hope that this time they don’t spray the prohibited areas and then need to waste ratepayer’s money fixing it up.
