The fishos I’ve seen on the wharf seem to mainly catch sprats with a few kahwai and mullet fish.
Hope somebody gives you some suggestions on what works best.

Hello Rodger, how are you?
I’m a student from the Waikato University and I’m planning to go fishing to the Raglan wharf sometime,
I’ve never done any fishing at the wharf before and would like some advice on ‘what works’ in this area,
what can be caught there? what bait is recommended? and what rig?
I presume incoming tide will the best?
Some hints from the locals to point me in the right diretion will be much appreciated,

The main sand beach is Ngarunui Beach accessed off the end of Riria Kereopa Drive. There are often people line fishing there. Never seen anybody with a kontiki there.

we are planning on coming to stay in Raglan and do a spot of fishing. are there any sand beaches around without reefs roacks etc that may be suitable for the use of a contiki?
