It is a tidal ramp. I seem to recall I’ve seen people fishing there at times.

I would like to launch a 14ft Tinnie at Te Akau and wondered if you could give me a headsup on whether it is a tidal ramp or all tides and I tow the boat with a car so is it suitable for that or does it require a four wheel drive.
Is this same spot good for surf casting as well.
Any information would be greatly appreciated

Hi Chris and Joy Trailer yachts and keelers do sail on the Raglan harbour. It is a tidal mud flat harbour and you’ll have to watch the tides when you are outside of the main channels. You would need to launch at either Wharf launching ramp (all tides) or at Lorenzen Bay (tidal).
